Māori are descendants of the great Polynesian explorers who settled the vast expanses of the Pacific ocean. The innovative practices that brought the first people to Aotearoa, where they developed an intrinsic understanding of kaitiakitanga (care for the environment), is the innovative thinking that will play a key role in reducing the impact of climate change in Aotearoa New Zealand.
Te Whatunga Hiko aims to build, grow and develop Māori expertise in the electricity industry. We want to address by inspiring and encouraging more rangatahi to become a part of the sector, whether that be in education or industry. We can’t solve the problems of tomorrow with only the knowledge of today, so we pass on our mātauranga for the benefit of, and to be developed by, future generations. We want to inspire our rangatahi to be leaders and entrepreneurs, inventing new technologies to address climate change. We focus this education and inspiration around STEMM, science, technology, engineering, maths and mātauranga Māori.

HANGANGA (INFRASTRUCTURE)
